Is GameChanger free?
Scorekeeping is, for everyone. You can score a full season without paying, and so can every other coach in your league.
Coaches get more than that. GameChanger’s own App Store listing, checked 14 September 2026, says video highlights, video archives, career stats and spray charts “remain completely free for coaches and team staff”.
A free account also includes five free live baseball and softball streams — unlimited in their other sports. So live video is metered on the free tier rather than absent.
What is paid is the families’ access to archived video, highlight clips and full career stats.
How much is GameChanger Team Pass? What does it cost?
$239 a season for Plus, $449 a season for Premium. A staff member buys the Team Pass once and every team member and follower gets the paid features for the season. Both Passes list unlimited live streams.
This is the plan most coaches are looking for and the one that is easiest to miss — it is not mentioned on their App Store listing at all, so a coach researching on a phone can conclude the individual plans are the only option. They are not.
Do parents have to pay for GameChanger video?
Only if nobody buys a Team Pass. Those are the two paths, and which one your families experience is decided by whether a coach knows the Pass exists and goes and buys it.
If nobody does, each adult subscribes individually. Both individual cards say “1 account”, so that is one adult, not one household — a second parent is a second subscription. The Family Plan covers four accounts, which is two parents and two more adults; grandparents past the fourth seat subscribe on their own.
How we price it, for comparison
We build a competing app, so treat this section as what it is. The numbers above are theirs, sourced and dated; this part is ours.
The structural difference is who the bill lands on. On DugoutOps the coach pays and every follower watches live free — by subscription, or one game at a time for a short season. No per-season broadcast allowance on a paid plan, and parents never pay to watch their own child play, on any plan. Our paid parent plans exist for extras: downloadable clips, career stats, season recaps.
Against their individual path we are dramatically cheaper for a team as a whole. Against a Premium Team Pass — one adult paying so nobody else has to, which is the same shape we use — the two are close enough that you should read both current prices rather than take our word for it. Our current pricing is a link rather than a number printed here, for the same reason theirs carries a date: a figure copied onto a third page is a figure that eventually stops being true.
The full side-by-side, including what GameChanger does better, is our GameChanger alternative comparison.
A note on sourcing
Every GameChanger price here comes from their own pricing pages — web.gc.com/pricing and gc.com/pricing/team-pass — read on 8 September 2026. The “free for coaches” wording comes from their App Store listing, checked 14 September 2026. Nothing sourced only from a user review is repeated here as fact.
Prices change and this page will go stale. The dates are printed so you can judge how much to trust it, and so can we. If something here is out of date or wrong, please tell us — being wrong about a competitor is a credibility problem before it is anything else.
