Honest comparison

DugoutOps vs DiamondKast

DiamondKast is Perfect Game’s scoring and streaming platform. If your team plays PG tournaments you have already met it. This page is about what it costs a family to follow a game — using Perfect Game’s own published prices.

Start here: this is not an either/or

At a Perfect Game event, the games are scored in DiamondKast whether or not your team uses anything else. That is how the event runs, and nothing on this page changes it. Plenty of teams will use both — PG for the tournament, DugoutOps for the season.

So the useful question is not “which one”. It is what your families are asked to pay, and for what.

DiamondKast’s published tiers

From Perfect Game’s subscription page on 14 September 2026, there are three:

  • DiamondKast — $7.99 a month, or $95.88 a year. Play-by-play, game recaps, leaderboards, top performers, team stats, college content.
  • DiamondKast Plus — $15.99 a month, or $191.88 a year. Everything above plus player video highlights, video-on-demand, advanced statistics and a batting spray chart.
  • DiamondKast Plus + Crosschecker — $29.99 a month, or $359.88 a year. Marked “best value”. Adds HS and college rankings, scout notes, draft prospect reports and advanced player search.

Worth reading that list twice. Every item on it — play-by-play, recaps, stats, highlights, video-on-demand — is something you do while watching or after watching. The entry tier is not a coaching tool with viewing attached. It is the viewing.

What a season costs a team of twelve families

If every family on a twelve-player roster takes the entry tier annually, that is about $1,150 a season, paid twelve separate times. At Plus, roughly $2,300. For the Crosschecker bundle, about $4,300 — though that top tier is a recruiting product and most families will never want it.

On DugoutOps, live viewing is included for every follower at no cost, so the same twelve families pay nothing to watch. The coach is the only one who pays, by subscription or one game at a time — see current pricing.

As with our GameChanger comparison, be clear about what that means: we are not cheaper in total. We are cheaper for parents and more expensive for the coach. That is a deliberate choice about where the cost should land, not a discount.

What DiamondKast does better

Real advantages, and two of them we cannot match at all:

  • It is Perfect Game. Scores, stats and player records feed the PG ecosystem directly. If your season is built around PG events and PG rankings, that integration is the product, and no competitor can reproduce it.
  • Genuine recruiting infrastructure. Crosschecker rankings, scout notes and draft prospect reports are aimed at families with a college or draft-track player. We do not offer anything equivalent.
  • Tournament reach. Your opponents are on it, the bracket is on it, and at a PG event nobody has to be talked into installing anything.

What DugoutOps does that they don’t

  • Every parent watches live, free. No family subscription to see your own kid play.
  • Pitch counts and rest days on your league’s own rules. Configurable limits and the mandatory-rest ladder, warned during the game rather than reconstructed after it.
  • Cross-team pitch counts. A player who throws for a travel team on Saturday and a rec team on Sunday is counted once — an arm does not care which roster it is on. This is the one that matters most on a tournament weekend.
  • A rotation view for a multi-day tournament. Who can pitch, for how long, across the days you actually play, with the outing that caused a “no” named so you can explain the decision to a parent.
  • No advertising, and no ad SDK in the app. There is nothing shipped that could serve an ad or profile a family in order to target one.

A note on sourcing

Every DiamondKast price and feature above is quoted from Perfect Game’s own subscription page, perfectgame.org/Registration/DiamondKastPlusCompare.aspx, read on 14 September 2026.
